Getting started

  1. Use the Connect IQ link on the face’s page to install the version for your watch.
  2. Select the face in your watch’s watch-face menu.
  3. Use the face’s settings on your watch or in Connect IQ to choose the look and data fields. Menu names vary by watch and firmware.
Which watches are supported?

Compatibility varies by face. Each face’s page shows how many watch models it supports and links to its Garmin listing. Check the Garmin listing for the latest compatibility before buying.

How do I change the data fields?

Fields vary by face; each face’s page describes its options. Some faces have a few selectable fields; others let you choose every position independently, including duplicate values or Empty. Select a field in settings, or, on faces that support it, hold it to cycle its choice while awake. Where a face offers “Hold to change field”, turn it off if you prefer settings only.

Why is weather missing, old, or different from my phone?

The face reads Garmin’s cached weather; it cannot force the weather provider to update. Check your watch’s connection with Garmin Connect and compare Garmin’s own Weather display. Depending on the face, it checks its cache every five minutes while active, or offers 15, 30, 60, or 120-minute checks. Temperature is actual, not feels-like.

Why is the town blank or shown as WEATHER?

This applies to faces with automatic U.S. town lookup. Garmin may not supply a place name. Automatic U.S. lookup needs recent weather coordinates and a connection through Garmin Connect. Outside supported coverage, a name may remain unavailable. You can enter a manual location label in the phone settings. Depending on the face, the name falls back to WEATHER or stays blank.

How do automatic themes and accent finishes work?

Some faces change their artwork, palette, or accent finish automatically at set times of day, using local watch time, or keep a fixed choice you select. Where a face has a progress arc, it may offer steps-to-goal or day/night progress. Each face’s page lists its options.

Does a face look up or track my location?

Faces without a location feature request no GPS fixes and send no Census/geocoder requests; some show Garmin’s weather place name or a manual label instead. Depending on the face, a location feature uses the last available GPS fix, a saved location, or weather coordinates as a fallback. No face continuously records GPS, and a saved location may be old. Where a face shows a source label, it identifies GPS or weather fallback. Earth imagery, such as clouds and city lights, is historical, not live. Read our privacy page for details.

Why does the screen go black?

During normal inactivity, some faces clear the screen to black and show a dim clock and date when your watch reports bedtime Sleep Mode; that depends on firmware support. Other faces have a designed always-on view. Each face’s page and store description say which.

What can I do about an IQ error or unusual battery use?

Restart the watch, check for firmware and face updates, and try disabling seconds, glow, or a wake animation, where the face offers them. If it continues, contact support with your model and settings. Battery use varies with watch settings and usage; we do not promise a fixed runtime.

How does the free 3-day trial work?

A face with a free trial has a separate trial edition; its page shows a “Try it free for 3 days” button. The trial lasts 72 hours from the first time you open the face, and the timer continues while another face is selected or the watch is off. At expiry, the design and data features stop; a basic clock and purchase instructions remain. There is no automatic charge and no subscription. The full edition is a separate purchase: buy and install it, then select it as your watch face. Buying the full edition does not unlock the trial app, and settings do not transfer. Moving the watch clock before the trial start or past its end expires the trial.

How do payments and refunds work?

Each face’s page links to its Garmin listing. The Garmin checkout shows the price and applicable purchase/refund terms. For a billing issue, use the help route on your Garmin receipt or order. We can help with face-specific faults. Your statutory consumer rights still apply.
