Terra Plana

I'm not sure if the Earth is flat, but it does make for a really cool watch face.

Terra Plana puts the whole world on your wrist as a flat-earth map, ringed by an ice wall and a 24-hour dial. The Sun is the hour hand. It circles the map once a day and, as it would on a flat Earth, spirals in toward the Tropic of Cancer in June and out to the Tropic of Capricorn in December. A glowing slice follows it around the dial.

• The Sun sits over the place where it is overhead right now (true solar time), on its seasonal lane between the tropics.
• The map turns to your time zone, so the Sun points at your hour. The current hour's numeral glows gold.
• Real day and night, projected onto the flat map, with a soft twilight edge.
• The Moon, in its current phase, marks the top of the dial.
• Digital time and date, a home pin, dashed tropic lanes, and a short trail showing where the Sun has been.
• The ice wall dims from 80% by day to 65% after sunset at your location.

Settings, on the watch or in Connect IQ:

• Daylight: Spotlight, True day/night, or Off.
• Digital clock: Left ocean, Steps aside (moves out of the Sun's way), or North Pole hub.
• Minute marker: Bead, Arc, or Off.
• Dial numerals: 12 hour or 24 hour.

The home pin and the ice wall's day/night level use the watch's last GPS fix, a saved fix, or Garmin weather coordinates as an approximate fallback. The face does not track GPS continuously. Your location stays on the watch; the face makes no network requests. With no location available, the pin is hidden.

The map is NASA Blue Marble imagery in an azimuthal equidistant projection, the classic flat-earth layout, with the Antarctic rim drawn as an ice wall. Sun and Moon positions are calculated on the watch; the Moon phase is approximate. The face redraws once a minute. During normal inactivity the face clears to black; a dim clock and date appear when supported firmware reports bedtime Sleep Mode.
