About Trip Computer
Trip Computer is reminiscent of my uncle's old Town Car. I remember the back-seat view at night: a dashboard glowing green, made of segments, bars and little dots, counting down the miles home.
Trip Computer puts that 1980s vacuum-fluorescent dashboard on your wrist. A full day of data sits in one glowing instrument cluster, with nothing hidden behind a tap.
AT A GLANCE
- A large segment clock where the speedometer used to be, with AM, PM or 24H beside it.
- A STEPS X 1000 tach that sweeps toward your daily step goal and turns red at the goal, over an odometer of today's steps.
- A message center that spells out the date, distance and calories in dot-matrix letters.
12 READINGS, FOUR GAUGES
- Bar gauges for heart rate and Body Battery on the left, temperature and watch battery on the right, each with its number.
- A button strip with sunrise, sunset and altitude.
- An indicator row with your notification count and a red LOW BATT lamp below 15%.
- Supported Instinct watches get a true black-and-white layout of the same dashboard, with heart rate in the round subscreen.
MAKE IT YOURS
- Three display colors: Green, Teal and Amber.
- Unlit segments on or off: the faint 8s of a real vacuum-fluorescent display.
- Metric, statute or your watch's units.
- Weather checks every 15 minutes, 30 minutes, one hour or two hours.
ALWAYS ON
When the watch sleeps, the always-on display keeps the date, the clock and the tach's lit dashes glowing in your color, dimmed to gray at bedtime. It follows your watch's display settings and moves a few pixels every minute to protect AMOLED screens.
GOOD TO KNOW
- Missing readings show dashes instead of stale or invented data.
- Trip Computer reads activity, heart-rate, Body Battery, watch-status, position and Garmin weather data supplied by the watch. Available readings depend on the model, sensors, firmware, recent position and Garmin data availability. Sunrise, sunset and altitude need a recent position.
- Heart rate and Body Battery are for general fitness information, not for medical use.
- The face makes no external network request and stores only its preferences.
